How we design studies, source data, validate findings, and maintain editorial independence — so you can trust the conclusions we publish.
Research Principles
Six commitments that govern every report we produce, regardless of topic or audience.
Primary Data First
We commission our own surveys and interviews before citing third-party aggregates. Primary research lets us control sample design, question framing, and data quality from the ground up.
Practitioner Panels
Every research cycle involves structured interviews with enterprise practitioners — CIOs, CTOs, and operational leads — who have deployed the technologies we analyse. Lived experience grounds our conclusions.
Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure
Where Halkwinds offers services directly related to a research topic, we disclose this in the report. Our editorial team operates independently from our sales and delivery functions.
Statistical Rigour
We report confidence intervals, sample sizes, and margin of error for all quantitative claims. Findings below statistical significance are labelled as directional indicators, not conclusions.
Cited Sources
Every external statistic is hyperlinked to its primary source. We do not aggregate secondary research without verifying the underlying methodology.
Living Documents
Research reports carry a published date and a last-reviewed date. We update material facts when market conditions change materially, and we clearly mark updated sections.
Editorial Standards
Halkwinds Research is editorially independent from our commercial divisions. The research team reports to the Chief Technology Officer, not to Sales or Marketing, and has final authority over published findings. No client relationship or partnership arrangement can influence a report's conclusions.
Authors are required to disclose any direct financial interest in technologies they analyse. Where a genuine conflict exists, the author may contribute data collection or analysis but not write the conclusions section. An independent editor reviews all such sections.
We distinguish clearly between proprietary research (studies we designed and funded), contributed research (data provided by partner organisations under named attribution), and secondary synthesis (analysis of publicly available studies). Each category is labelled on every page of the report.

Validation Process
Every primary-research report passes through a six-stage validation gate before publication. No stage can be skipped regardless of timeline pressure.

Review Process
Published reports are reviewed on a rolling 12-month cycle. When a material fact changes — a regulation takes effect, a major market event occurs, or our own supplementary data materially shifts a finding — we update the affected section within 30 days and publish a change notice at the top of the report.
Minor corrections (typos, broken links, citation formatting) are made silently. Material revisions are versioned and the original text preserved in an appendix.
Update Policy
Every report displays a Published date and a Last Updated date. If a report has not been reviewed within 18 months it is marked Under Review and a notice advises readers to verify current applicability before relying on the findings.
Reports older than 36 months without an update are archived rather than deleted. Archived reports remain accessible but carry a prominent staleness warning.
Transparency Statement
Halkwinds produces research because our clients make high-stakes technology decisions. We believe they deserve analysis built on verifiable data, disclosed methodology, and honest uncertainty — not marketing copy dressed as research. If you ever find a claim in our work you cannot verify, please tell us. We will investigate and correct.
